BARNS |
UPDATES FROM THE FIBER BARN The Fiber Barn is currently inundated with all of the fleece from this year’s shearing. My summer job is to get all of the fleeces that I am going to have processed, skirted and ready to go to the mill in the fall. Not all of the fleeces are processed at the mill, and we do have some raw fleece available at $1.00 to $1.50 per ounce that is suitable for felting. Available fleeces are Rose Grey, Fawn, and White. The fleeces weigh about 3 to 4 pounds. I will sell it in 1 pound amounts. The fleece that I am selling for $1.00 per ounce is only suitable for felting. The $1.50 per ounce could be spun, but does not have a very long staple length. I also have rovings for sale. Rovings are $3.00 per ounce which does not include shipping. The normal bump weighs between 5 and 10 ounces. The numbers after some of the names indicate which year the shearing came from. By blending alpaca with mohair, merino, silk or any other fiber, you get a wealth of color and texture. My photographic abilities do not do justice to the fiber, so please email for a free sample.
